A flower for you!

A 'friend' (she is shy) sent us these photos of flowers made from cut-up, painted plastic bottles from the downtown Anthropologie. She knew we would enjoy them and we hope you do too.

Wouldn't it be a blast to spend a day with the creative team that puts these ideas together. Hint, hint! -- Lisa

Anthropologie Always Delivers

Who doesn’t get a major kick of out of the displays at Anthropologie? Lisa and I popped into the University Village store and left with our hearts going pitter pat! They were installing these spectacular decorations. We really made out because some were on the floor, waiting to be hung. I asked if I could take pictures (which is always nice store etiquette) and they said sure.

Some of these white fluffs were created from chicken wire as the form with common sandwich wrapping papers smushed into each opening. Others were created like giant tissue paper flowers.
We especially liked the nuances of the creamy colors with an occasional clear, sparkly cellophane flower added here and there.And another great idea - they hung large hunks of metal fencing as their grid to attach each flower.

Another Room Transformed

It all started with receiving this beautiful wreath made by Linda aka Luluz.
I knew this bedroom needed to be filled with cream and this shade of blue.
Here are some before shots.

I actually liked the existing pinecone stenciling when we moved into our house 12 years ago.
My decorating tastes have changed a lot in the meantime.

Too much stuff! Time to edit.

The paper garland was the perfect thing to go over my bed. I have a big girl-crush on Pam Garrison and everything she creates. She borrowed the garland idea from Anthropologie.



Here is a closer look at the garland. Lisa and I will be teaching a workshop on paper garlands at Bountiful Home on June 20.




I gathered five of my favorite floral pictures, and rescued Aunt Iris' chair from a closet.




Still to do - painting this bedroom set a chippy, cream. But that involves emptying drawers and way too many decisions for now. Instead, I'll focus on how much calmer I feel in this room now. -- Beth

Play Day!

Lisa and I spent the afternoon one day this last week working on some samples for spring workshops.

This fluffy goodness is a paper garland created from white and brown coffee filters, circles of paper from the white pages of the phone book, vintage sheet music, French book pages and patterns. The idea was inspired by Pam Garrison’s lovely creation on her blog. And in turn she was inspired by a garland she admired at Anthropologie. We’ll be adding some twists and turns of our own to this brilliant use of common coffee filters. And it’s a whole lotta fun to make!
